Our students are taught by real engineers who can design systems, diagnose failure, and explain why things work. That distinction matters. Families trust us because students are not simply being supervised. They are being mentored by technical people who have actually built, tested, and reasoned through real machines.

We are hiring a Robotics Mentor Engineer to help lead that work.

This is a teaching-first engineering role. Your primary responsibility is direct mentorship of students as they design, wire, build, test, debug, and think through robotic systems. Every other part of the role exists to support that mission.

What this role is really about

This is not a passive classroom role, and it is not a back room engineering job.

You will stand at the intersection of teaching and systems thinking. You will help students learn how engineers actually work by guiding them through real hardware, real code, real mistakes, and real problem solving.

At Xai Robotics, the standard is high. We care deeply about technical correctness, but we care just as much about whether you can transfer understanding to another person. The best mentor engineers do not merely know the answer. They can lead a student to it.

Core responsibilities

Student Mentorship, first and foremost

  • Mentor students through hands on robotics work across build, wiring, programming, and debugging

  • Teach students how to reason about systems instead of simply following steps

  • Explain engineering concepts clearly to different age groups and levels of readiness

  • Help maintain a culture of seriousness, curiosity, and disciplined building

Systems readiness and instructional support

  • Learn Xai Robotics platforms deeply enough to teach them with confidence

  • Keep robots, tools, and lab systems ready for student use

  • Troubleshoot issues in a way that strengthens instructional quality

Curriculum and build improvement

  • Improve build flow, clarity, robustness, and documentation

  • Refine instructional materials and technical explanations

  • Contribute to engineering improvements that directly support teaching and student outcomes

Who fits this role

We are looking for engineers with strong foundations in one or more of the following areas:

  • Mechanical Engineering: CAD, structure design, fitment, fabrication, and mechanism reasoning

  • Electrical Engineering: circuits, sensors, actuators, power behavior, and system integration

  • Computer Science / Embedded Systems / AI: control logic, state based behavior, sensor processing, and hardware aware programming

What we look for

  • Strong engineering fundamentals in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field

  • Genuine teaching instinct and the patience to guide students through mistakes without lowering the standard

  • Comfort with real tools, real hardware, and real debugging

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and precision

  • Willingness to work onsite and be fully present during instructional hours

Important context

This role is mentorship first.

That is not a side detail. It is the core of the job.

You may help improve systems, build flows, and instructional infrastructure, but those efforts exist to make the student experience stronger. If you are looking for a role centered on solitary research or isolated implementation work, this will not be the right fit.

If, however, you want to apply serious engineering in a setting where your work directly shapes how young builders think, build, and grow, this role is unusually meaningful.

  • Candidates must be available during instructional windows, which may include weekday afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays
